What do you want to know about Portable Jesus??
|
The General Overview:
.. What started as only an experiment in the blending of technologies quickly became a project that manifested itself into five albums worth of electronic madness, with more on the way. But is the world ready for Portable Jesus? Who is he anyway? Where did he come from? Only time will tell...
More?:
Hailing from Boston, where he met Ernie Folcarelli, Portable Jesus has followed Ocular Rhombus in their move to New York City. You can usually find him hanging around at Ocular Rhombus HQ in Astoria (Queens).
The Music:
Discography
Remixes
Portable Jesus writes mostly electronic, instrumental & sample based music. His songs vary in composition and inspiration, enough so that his albums seem to weave through different styles and techniques. His compositions sometimes also include found sounds, live instruments, and maybe even vocals, in addition to various bloops and bleeps and samples from obscure records.
The First Album: (Manifest Destiny)
Meh.
The Second Album: (Everything was Beautiful, and Nothing Hurt.)
Branching out from his first album in styles and sounds, "Everything Was Beautiful, and Nothing Hurt" was a work that saw the artist maturing and truly coming into his own both sonically and musically. The album also contained Portable Jesus' first forays into vocal territory on tracks like Parasite and Juggernaut Apparatus.
The Third Album: (Who Is Portable Jesus??)
For his third album, Portable Jesus has reached deep into his bag of tricks (or hard drive of tricks, as it were) and come out with some of his most interesting and varied music to date. With inspiration ranging from Nine Inch Nails to Amon Tobin to Squarepusher and even Radiohead, this album is sure to have something on it that you will enjoy. Oh, and it is accompanied by a 24 page comic book!!! (you can view it here)
The Fourth Album: (Music is Dead)
Truly his most ambitious work to date; A concept album about the Death of Music. With seventeen tracks spanning more than seventy minutes, it is a poignant and complex journey that sees him both moving forward from, and also looking back to his previous works.
WHERE WERE YOU WHEN MUSIC DIED??
The Fifth Album: (Gods and Geniuses)
A collection of 14 new works and 1 new remix, Gods and Geniuses features an interesting blend of ambient atmospherics and complex beats all swirled together with the usual weirdness you have come to expect from the music of Portable Jesus
The Sixth Album: (Portable Jesus vs the Gravitational Anomaly)
14 All New Tracks.
1 All New Remix.
1 Rerecorded version of a classic Portable Jesus song.
All awesome.
